Collection: Dehydrated Vegetables
PLEASE READ !
1kg Dehydrated = +-10kg Fresh.
*30 - 50g serving p/person
People often ask if dehydrated veggies lose their nutritional value, and the answer might surprise you. Did you know, dehydrated vegetables have almost the identical nutritional content as fresh?
How is this possible? Well, in a nutshell, the lower the temperature you dry vegetables at, the more nutrients they retain. When it comes to dehydrating our veggies, a special air-drying process is used that gently evaporates the water from the produce. The result? Our veggies retain their nutritional composition, as close to fresh as possible, while lasting infinitely longer. Plus, dehydrated veggies are extremely lightweight, take up less storage space, and are shelf-stable.
Cooking method, cover with boiling water, let Re-hydrate for 20min, add spices, cook like normal fresh Vegetables.
* Is our Vegetables ORGANIC?..We can't be sure we buy some of our veggies at the Fresh Food Markets.
*We do use Chip White to preserve color and prevent browning.
What are the ingredients of chip white?
Ingredients: Corn, water, trace of lime, propionic acid, dextrose.
•Shelf-life:
Dehydrated vegetables can be stored up to 10 years.
Dried foods should be stored in cool, dry, dark areas. Because food quality is affected by heat, the storage temperature helps determine the length of storage, the higher the temperature, the shorter the storage time.
BE AWARE OF:
*Pantry moths (also called Indian meal moths, flour moths, and grain moths) are common household pests that lay eggs in dry food products.*
How to Prevent Pantry Moths
Follow these steps in order to prevent future pantry moth infestations:
Use dry foods within one month of buying them.“If you can’t use the food by then, keep it stored in an airtight container. Moths are amazingly good at getting into tight spaces, so the container needs to be truly airtight. Plastic containers should have a gasket seal. Mason jars with two-part lids work well, too.”Put dry goods like flour in the freezer to kill off potential eggs.
